SUMMARY
Our philosophy for Christian Early Childhood Education allows the teacher’s assistant the opportunity to be actively involved in the classroom atmosphere of fun, discovery, experimentation, and expression. Through researched and proven ECE developmentally appropriate practices, the teacher’s assistant “follows the lead” of the teacher by supporting a classroom atmosphere and activities that are enriched, stimulating, and Christ-centered. These activities foster growth for a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, physical, and spiritual development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Relational – Help maintain a welcoming environment for all guests, preschoolers and their families. Maintain Christ-like relationships with families, children, volunteers and staff with an attitude and atmosphere of holy living. Share the love of Christ with others on the school campus, show a heart of compassion, patience, joy, and kindness, and a willingness to serve others. Develop an “I get to go to work today,” mindset for the incredible impact you can have on those in our care.
Professional Development – Opportunity to attend at least 18 paid hours of professional development training annually either onsite or outside the organization. Training to include new methods, philosophy, or research in early childhood development and CPR/First Aid certification.
Team – Collaborate with the Lead Teacher in a timely manner regarding any unresolved difficulties that have arisen in the classroom or school whether they be with a child, a parent, or with your co-workers. In team teaching situations, strive to work together for a seamless transition from one day to the next. Assist the teacher in any way that enhances the smooth running of the classroom, benefits the teacher, and that helps to maintain a safe, secure environment for the children. Interaction with the children, especially during free play, is highly encouraged. Enlist classroom helper. Assist with children throughout the day so that a well-ordered environment is maintained.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- Negative TB test within last 12 months
- Current AZ State Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Working Knowledge: ECE best practices
- Experience: 6 months in child development/preschool setting
